Dear Delegate
We invite you to join us in Sydney in October for the biggest
professional development and networking event on the international
education calendar – the Australian International Education
Conference (AIEC).
The theme for the 23rd AIEC is Transitions and Transformations,
including consideration of the major changes we are seeing in the
world economic order and the ways in which it impacts on
international education.
At the same time we are seeing other important transitions
occurring in the international education industry. There are policy
developments, including the Review of Higher Education in Australia
and skilled migration changes; continuing generational change in
the student cohort; increased competition for international
students; and ongoing technological developments driving
change.
The 2009 AIEC will focus on the likely impact of these changes
in all sectors of international education, including the
opportunities they present and the transformations required to
succeed in the new environment. Some of the key features of the
2009 program include an International Education Research Forum
involving leading international and Australian experts in the
field, and an in depth look at the key developments and emerging
opportunities in two key source countries for international
students, India and China.
The sessions at this year’s conference will be wide-ranging,
covering policy and research, the student experience, transnational
education, student mobility, marketing and recruitment, teaching
and learning, and professional development. Pre-conference
workshops and the conference sessions are designed to extend your
professional knowledge and provide the most up-to-date information
on issues affecting the industry and each of its sectors.
As always, this year’s AIEC will be the premiere networking
event for international education professionals in Australia, a
place to make new contacts and renew professional acquaintances and
friendships.
We extend a particular invitation to overseas delegates who
always bring a special dimension to the conference. And we
especially welcome newcomers to international education to the
AIEC, where you can look forward to a full program of knowledge and
networking to get you started in your career and meet the people
you need to know.
We look forward to seeing you in Sydney.
Yours sincerely,
Anthony Pollock
